Eight products for dog owners to shop this Amazon Prime Day

Whenever we run our of something that the dogs need, or are looking for something fun and new for them to try, more often than not we find ourselves turning to Amazon. With its next day delivery and regular offers, it’s a fast and affordable way to treat the Scamps to some tasty treats, a new toy or stock up on essentials like paw wipes.

This July 16-17 marks the retailers annual Prime Day, and some of our top-rated Amazon finds have been reduced in the sale. The 48-hour shopping event is the perfect opportunity to score some great deals on products for your four-legged friends. Here you’ll find some of our favourite Amazon products – some of which have been reduced – that are well worth taking a look at. From DNA tests and dog beds, to huge boxes of chicken feet and much more, here’s what The Scamps are loving this Prime Day.

Bingo Paw Extra Large Dog Sofa Bed

We bought this dog bed from Amazon around 18 months ago and it’s easily some of the best money we’ve ever spent on the dogs. Ours is the XXL size which cost £92.99, but there are sizes Medium through to XXXL to suit a range of breeds, with prices from around £50.

While the best part of £100 might seem expensive to spend on a pet bed, it’s absolutely worth it for its quality and longevity. We’ve previously spent £50 on two much lower quality beds that simply don’t last more than a couple of months, but this one from Bingo Paw is still as good as the day we bought it.

The bed is made with a thick, supportive sponge base with a fluffy plush cover and padded bolster on three sides, offering a resilient, durable bed that offers maximum comfort and supports joints and mobility. It’s also memory foam, so doesn’t warp or deform, and is yet to lose any of its thickness, which keeps the dogs elevated away from the cold, hard flooring, too. A few other factors we like are the waterproof lining that protects from spills and accidents, anti-skid rubber backing, and the fact the cover is entirely removable and machine washable. Not to mention the grey fabric looks really stylish and always gets compliments from guests.

Wisdom Panel DNA Testing Kit

In the last two years, I’ve DNA tested both Phoebe and Frank using the Wisdom Panel DNA Testing Kit, and it’s such a fun and interesting thing to do for you and your pooch. We found the Wisdom Panel DNA test so simple and user-friendly, with the kit containing everything you need to collect a DNA sample from your dog, including detailed instructions, cheek swabs, and a postage-paid envelope.

The process is straightforward and can be completed in just a few minutes, with the brand offering an extensive reed database, covering over 350 breeds, types, and varieties as well as insights into potential health risks and inherited traits for things such as coat colour, length, and type, shedding tendencies, and even genetic markers related to exercise-induced collapse and drug sensitivities – although it must be noted that they’re not 100% reliable, but offer a pretty good indication of your dog’s genetic makeup.

We also found Wisdom Panel to be one of the most affordable on the market, with their Essential kit costing £99.99, while similar tests from Embark are over £100. They’re also regularly reduced on Amazon, currently priced at £84.99.

Earth Rated Dog Wipes

Despite being July, it’s shaping up to be the wettest summer on record and we’ve been using more of these Earth Rated Dog Wipes in the last few weeks than we did in winter. Earth Rated, founded in 2009, is an eco-friendly brand on a mission to make cleaning up after your dog less of a chore through thoughtful products that make life easier for pet owners. Their Plant-Based Dog Grooming Wipes from Earth Rated come in two varieties, unscented and soothing lavender, and have been designed to wipe away dirt and keep paws, bodies, and bums clean without the need for a bath. They’re also great for wiping away eye ‘snot’ and cleaning ear flaps without causing irritation.

The hypoallergenic and cruelty-free wipes have been dermatologist tested and are completely free of alcohol and parabens to ensure they’re gentle on your dogs’ skin, which adds an extra layer of reassurance that they’re gentle enough for everyday use. Each pack features 100 extra-large and thick grooming wipes, which are super durable and don’t rip. What’s more is that they’re only £8.99, working out at 9p per wipe, and are even available on Amazon Subscribe and Save to make sure you’re never caught short.

Inkless Print Pad Kit

Designed for newborns for little hand and footprints, I’ve used so many of these Inkless Print Pads to create little keepsakes for Phoebe, Frank and several of my friend and family members’ pets over the years. Priced at £8.99, you get three ink pads and six pieces of card and are suitable for even larger breeds with big paws, such as American bulldogs like Winston.

We found the ink pads to be quite sensitive – you need to press firmly and confidently to avoid any wiggling around. After each print, we carefully removed the pad from the paper to reveal the Scamps’ adorable pawprints. The kit was completely mess free and provided us with a really sweet keepsake of both of our pooches. They look gorgeous framed, but other owners may have some other, creative ideas of what to do with their impressions. Some often use this method to get their pet’s pawprint so that it can be tattooed. These ink pads are particularly sweet for when your pet is getting a little older and may not have much time left.

Boomer Ball

It can be really hard to find toys that won’t perish within a matter of minutes, or if we’re lucky, a couple of hours of play in a household of bull breeds. Plushies last 20 minutes max, balls are popped, squashed and de-squeaked shortly after, and rope toys are left in tatters after a game of tug-o-war – so, we got a Boomer Ball. Company of Animals describe the Boomer Ball as ‘virtually indestructible’, made from super tough polyethylene that your pooch would seriously struggle to sink their teeth into. But they’re not made for chomping and biting, but for batting with paws and booping with snoots, offering mental stimulation and hours of fun.

The Boomer Ball comes in four sizes, 4, 6, 8 and 10 inches, available in two colours – red or blue – but on Amazon, you don’t get to choose the colour. We’d have much preferred a blue ball because dogs can see the colour better, but we do still love our red one (and so do The Scamps!) In terms of price, the difference in price for each size is quite steep, starting at £3.96 for a 4 inch ball, £10 for a 6 inch ball, £17.68 for an 8 inch ball and £24.70 for a 10 inch ball.

The Boomer Ball is a brilliant puncture-proof, lightweight product – and one of the only toys we’ve found to live up to their indestructible claims. It’s high quality and tough enough to withstand our very enthusiastic dogs.

Hollings Chicken Feet Dog Treats

A few months ago we were hunting around in the pantry for some natural chews to give to the dogs and discovered we’d ran out. I headed straight to Amazon and without much thought ordered these Hollings Chicken Feet Dog Treats. When the box arrived I couldn’t believe the size of it and how good value it was. The box is reduced from £30 to around £20 and you get a whopping 2kg worth of chicken feet. I ordered them in May and the scamps have had one each almost daily since, and we’ve still got loads left. They’ve also worked wonders for keeping their gnashers clean.
