Review: Scrumbles affordable dog advent calendar and turkey treats

The holiday season is fast approaching and this year, I wanted to treat Phoebe and Frank to something extra special to get us all in the festive spirit. And what better way than with the latest yuletide goodies from Scrumbles? This year, the brand has released not only their popular Dog Advent Calendar, but also some tasty-looking Turkey Softies Treats – and they’re perfect for spreading some Christmas cheer.

The Scrumbles Advent Calendar allows pooches to start each December morning with a little treat. There are three different types of the brand’s biscuit-style nibbles featured in the 24-day countdown, including Chicken Bites, Calming Nibbles, or Training Softies, which helps keep things interesting as they vary by day. Each day has 2 to 3 treats behind the door, which is ideal for a two dog household like ours, because it means we don’t need to buy the dogs a calendar each.

The gluten-free, hypoallergenic treats are all made with real meat, making them high quality and sensitive-tummy friendly. They also have added benefits like calming properties and gut-friendly ingredients such as pumpkin and slippery elm. Suitable for all dogs and puppies from eight weeks old, it means whether it’s your dogs’ first Christmas or their tenth, it’s bound to get tails wagging.

At £8, it’s relatively affordable compared to other brands, like Pooch and Mutt’s £9.99 calendar, or Denzel’s £12.50 offering. Not to mention the fact you only need the one for two dogs, so in dog math, that’s basically half price.

The calendar does a great job at showcasing Scrumbles’ treats – the only problem you’ll find is that, because dogs are so routine-focused, come the end of December, they’ll no doubt be wondering where their daily goodies are. But luckily, you can buy the individual packs of these treats to maintain a sense of continuity as you head into the New Year.

However, if you’re looking for something a little more festive, they’ve also released some limited edition Christmas Dog Treats Turkey Softies. The perfect stocking filler for your furry friend, they’re £3.50 a pack, and a great way to reward your pet for being on the Nice List this December.

The treats are made with a seasonal combination of 26% turkey and cranberry, which feel like a Christmas Dinner in biscuit form, so your dog can feel a part of the festivities. The inclusion of prebiotic slippery elm once again comes in handy, supporting digestive health and preventing any tummy troubles making them the ideal festive indulgence for your furry friend. And much like the rest of the Scrumbles range, they’re also gluten-free and hypoallergenic.

As well as being generously sized, the texture of these treats is soft, making them easy to chew for dogs of all ages. They’re also easy to break into two if you have smaller breeds, a dog watching their holiday weight, or just want to make them go a little bit further. The treats even come in a 100% recyclable, resealable bag that keeps them fresh for longer.

Both the Scrumbles Dog Advent Calendar and the Christmas Dog Treats Turkey Softies have been fantastic additions to our holiday celebrations. Your pup will love the flavours, and you’ll love the peace of mind knowing they’re munching on healthy, gut-friendly treats, especially when there are so many questionable offerings on the shelves this time of year. If you’re looking for an all-natural, hypoallergenic way to spoil your dog this Christmas, Scrumbles has you covered. You can buy yours here.
