Why we love the Coya freeze-dried raw treats from Pets at Home

After trying the Coya freeze-dried raw meal toppers, they were an immediate hit with Phoebe and Frank, so much so that Phoebe will now turn her nose up at her breakfast if they haven’t been sprinkled on top. So naturally, we had to order some of their freeze-dried raw treats, and they have quickly become a staple in our household.

Coya is a brand on a mission to make raw feeding as easy and as accessible as possible for all pet owners, and while we’re not in a position to feed raw full-time, their treats and toppers are a great way to incorporate raw goodness into your dog’s diet, even if your pet isn’t on a raw plan.

The Coya treats are currently available in four flavours, including beef, chicken, turkey and pork, all of which boast a 90% meat content that’s topped up with fruit and vegetables. The brand takes raw ingredients and removes the water with the freeze-drying process, with no cooking or heating involved, resulting in a raw final product that retains its vital nutrients with no need for freezer space, defrosting or mess.

Each of them is made with premium, human-grade ingredients and are single protein which makes them naturally hypoallergenic, with no artificial flavours and preservatives meaning they’re more gentle for dogs with sensitivities and intolerances.

All suitable for dogs over the age of one, the 100% raw treats look like pellets, with a similar appearance to fishing bait. Perfectly sized for all breeds of dogs, they can be fed whole or broken in half, plus they’re really easy to handle, with no strong odour or mess. In fact, they have quite a fibrous texture, so they don’t crumble in your pocket making them ideal for taking on walkies, and are so lightweight, you wouldn’t even know you were carrying them.

Each 40g pack is perfectly portioned for training, travel, and daily rewards, but are also a great size for interactive toys like snuffle mats, making playtime both fun and nutritious. And for dogs with sensitivities, they’re also hypoallergenic, with the high protein content and healthy fibre working to support digestive health.

Their single protein approach makes them a really lean option, with each meat selected for their individual health benefits. For example, turkey is rich in vitamins and minerals such as zinc, iron, and potassium. The addition of pumpkin, a natural fibre source, aids digestion and can help alleviate gastrointestinal issues. Meanwhile, beef provides essential proteins that help maintain muscle health and vitality, with sweet potatoes being loaded with vitamin A, promoting healthy skin, coat, eyes, nerves, and muscles.

Chicken is an excellent source of amino acids and various minerals, including selenium, iron, zinc, and copper. Coupled with sweet potatoes, these treats offer a dose of vitamin A, supporting overall health, with pork providing a well-tolerated option that balances protein and fat, making it suitable for sensitive dogs.

Phoebe and Frank have been going wild for these raw treats. Lightweight, mess-free and healthy, they strike the perfect balance between nutrition and taste, as well as affordability, with each pack costing £3.29, or £2.49 at Pets at Home. Try them out for yourself here.
