This Valentine’s Day, The Scamps are spreading the love with these Forthglade heart shaped treats! Coming in four varieties, these bite-sized biscuits are sure to get their tails wagging.
Forthglade are a Devon-based brand, and have been making pet products since 1971. Their treats are junk free, with no fillers, artificial flavours, colours or preservatives, fortified with vitamins and minerals.
Phoebe and Frank tried their grain free hand baked treats in every flavour – just to be thorough – and they were madly in love with them.
The four varieties are:
- Fresh Breath
- Calming
- Joints and Bones
- Training
Each flavour has had ingredients carefully selected for their specific properties, before being gently baked into adorable heart shaped treats. The biscuits have a small score down the centre making them really easy to break into half. For bigger dogs like Phoebe and Frank, they could have a full treat each, but they can be broken up for smaller breeds. We tend to break them up for training, and it means they go twice as far!
The fresh breath treats feature a mix of natural, common herbs including pepermint, rosemary and parsley, which all help to keep your dogs breath fresh – as well as sweet potato (30%) and turkey. Meanwhile, the calming treats use botanicals like chamomile and lemon balm to relax nervous or anxious dogs. These ones also feature sweet potato, chicken and dried pumpkin, which are all flavours that Phoebe and Frank love. Calming treats are great to use before bedtime, or during walks, because Frank can be quite nervous on his walks.
The Forthglade Joints and Bones treats are baked with salmon, glucosamine and chondroitin, all of which support healthy joints and bones. Glucosamine is a naturally occurring compound used in many arthritis supplements, and is best used combined with chondroitin – a structural component of cartilage which gives it elasticity – to work most effectively.
Finally, the training treats have been brilliant for teaching The Scamp’s their latest trick ‘tell me a secret’. These ones are made with cheese, apple and blueberry – which really are some of their favourite things! The guys absolutely love having a couple of blueberries with natural yoghurt on their breakfast. Forthglade describe this recipe as ‘irresistible’, and we have to agree. Phoebe and Frank can’t get enough.
Forthglade said: “Of course, the starting point for each of our meals is its unique recipe. They’re individually designed by our team of dog lovers and taste-tested by our team of four-legged taste testers
“We pride ourselves on the wonderful quality of the ingredients we use in our recipes, most of which come from the UK.”
The packaging, which is colour coded for each recipe, is resealable, making them perfect for taking out on walks to aid training. It keeps them fresher for longer, but no Forthglade treats last too long in this household! We’re really looking forward to checking out their range with The National Trust, too! At just £2.99 per packet, they’re also really well priced and will be a brand we continue to buy from.
