With just over a week until Christmas, now’s the time for a spot of last minute shopping to make sure your gifts arrive in time for your pooch and their four-legged friends have the perfect Christmas present to unbox on December 25.
And at Hounds, in Newcastle, Staffordshire, they’ve taken all of the stress out of the Christmas rush in doing all of the hard work for you – complete with a beautiful gift box – so there will be no need for panic buying stocking fillers or late-night Christmas eve wrapping.
Their Festive Chew Box contains everything you need to make Christmas special for your dog – and it costs less than a tenner, making it a great budget-friendly gift you can give away to friends and family, too. We’ve even bought one for Winston and Belle! Business owner Anya added: “Festive chew boxes are a great way to spoil the pooches in your life without the stress of hunting down tasty natural treats.”
This year, the £8.99 gift contains our favourite Denzel’s bauble, filled with pigs in blankets soft bites. These alone are worth £2.99 and are made with a pork, apple and honey flavour, making them totally tasty and full of protein, not to mention suitably seasonal. We can’t get over how cute the bauble packaging is, which can be hung on the tree throughout the holiday period, too.
Then there’s the Forthglade Turkey and Cranberry soft bites worth £2. The Christmas turkey and cranberry soft bite treats are made in their adorable signature heart design, gently baked with a seam down the middle so you can easily break them in half. This makes them perfect for sharing if you’re a multi dog household, or so that they go further – or if someone has gained some holiday weight for better portion control (we’ve all been there).
Also featured in the box is a veggie frog from the Antos Cerea range – a 100 per cent natural chew made with potato starch, glycerine, cellulose powder, lecithin, natural colours and flavours. Designed for dental health, the vegetarian based chew is made from compounded vegetable fibres, and helps keep teeth clean with a longer chew time.
These chews smell almost like liquorice, which is something I always associate with Christmas, and they’re surprisingly pretty long-lasting.
Next, there’s some yummy natural treats from the pick ‘n’ mix table, including a hairy rabbit ear, which makes for a great low fat, sensitive alternative to the popular pigs’ ear. The air dried treats are easily digestible and don’t smell like some meaty treats do. They make very little mess so they’re great to have in the house. The fur can also act as a natural de-wormer and could form part of a natural de-worming regime.
Finally, avoid feeding your dogs fatty pigs in blankets leftover from Christmas dinner and let them enjoy these two mini sausages instead. These bangers are air dried so they can be served straight away or stored in a cupboard for a later day. They make the perfect treats for training and after a cosy Boxing Day walk.
The treats come in a white gift box adorned with Santas, trees and candy canes, with a transparent window so you can see what’s inside. There is space to add your own goodies too, such as a festive toy or Christmas dinner tin. You can shop the Hounds Festive Chew Box for £8.99 here – and use the code SCAMPS for an extra 10 per cent off. Monday, December 19 is the last day for posting, so act fast if you want one!
