Easy pancake recipe for dogs – with peanut butter and fruit

Pancake Day isn’t just on the calendar for us humans, dogs can definitely celebrate it too! This year, I’m using the Dogs Trust pancake recipe for dogs that your pet will ‘flippin’ love! You only need three ingredients, plus whatever treats you want to use as topping.

Whilst Pancake Day traditionally marks the day before Ash Wednesday, we can’t promise The Scamps will give up ‘getting off the sofa’ for the Lent.

For the dog-friendly pancakes, you will need:

  • 50g flour – wholewheat is best
  • One egg
  • 100ml water

Add all the ingredients to a bowl and whisk until smooth – we used our electric mixture for ease and speed.

Heat the frying pan to a medium temperature and add a spray of Fry-lite.

Ladle in your pancake mix – don’t worry about them being perfectly shaped, we’ll reveal our top tip for beautifully circular pancakes below.

Cook evenly on each side, and avoid dropping them on the floor whilst flipping!

Once golden, take the pancake out of the pan and set down on a chopping board. Using a pint pot, press the rim into the pancake to cut it out – a cookie cutter would work best if you have one! We also made some bone shaped pancakes using our biscuit cutters.

To top the pancakes, we used a xylitol-free peanut butter, coconut yoghurt, sliced banana, chopped strawberries and blueberries. By the time you’ve cut and decorated your pancakes, they should be cool enough to serve.

Be sure that when feeding your dog a treat such as this, to take it out of their daily food allowance to avoid weight gain.
