I think it’s fair to say that Phoebe and Frank would be considered pampered pups. Not £30,000 collars and wagyu steak for dinner kind of pampered, but they do indulge in a little bit of paw balm and a spritz of pawfume every now and again.
And having just celebrated Valentine’s Day, the next event to show your dog how much they mean to you happens to be today – February 20 – marking Love Your Pet Day.
And to celebrate, cruelty-free, vegan pet brand Hownd at DogsLoveHownd.com have launched two gorgeous smelling fragrances to leave your furry friend’s smelling fresh. And if Dogs Love Hownd, and you Love Your Pet – then why not treat your pet to a new pawfume this February?
The Hownd spritz come in two scents – Peach Bum (for lady dogs) and Butch Leather, of course, for the boys.
Peaches and cream scented Peach Bum is a long-lasting luxury smelling fragrance containing sweet orange and jasmine essential oils that will ensure Phoebe smells sweet for when Winston visits.
Meanwhile Butch Leather is the must-have fragrance for discerning dogs, with head notes of vetiver and cedarwood essential oils, which is inspired by the scent of warm, soft leather and lush woods – two of Frank’s favourite things.
The 250ml bottles are priced at £12 each, and have a little bow detail you could even tie onto your dog’s fur if you’ve got a long haired breed like a Lhasa Apso.
The fragrance can be used after a wash, or in between baths to freshen up – and should be gently shaken before use. I just spritz the bottle from around 30cm away, avoiding the face and inside of ears, before brushing them through and giving them a quick smooch.
As there is no alcohol in the formula, award-winning pet brand Hownd say their cologne and parfum are safe for daily use. That said, the scents are pretty long lasting and still linger for a day or two after, so I’d say opt for once a week to freshen them up.
I found the Peach Bum scent to be quite floral, and Phoebe even seemed to trot along on her walk like she was Kate Moss, however, Frank’s Butch Leather fragrance was much more my cup of tea – and not too dissimilar to some of the perfumes in my own fragrance collection. They both feel quite romantic and playful, without being too synthetic – as I’m not a fan of overpowering, chemically scents.
Hownd originated in 2013 under the name Butch & Bess, rebranding to Hownd two years later. Founded by Mark Hirschel and Jo Amit, the company creates a multi-award-winning range of ethical health, wellness and hygiene products certified by Cruelty Free International, The Vegetarian (Vegan) Society, PETA and more.
The company is also the creators behind national Bring Your Dog To Work Day – an annual nationwide event that raises money for charities dedicated to making a difference to the welfare of dogs.
So if you want to treat your pet to a pamper this Love Your Pet Day, do it with the Hownd Cologne and Parfum for Dogs.
